1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using thedevsignal.com (the "Service") and subscribing to Dev Signal's newsletter, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

Dev Signal ("Company," "we," "us," "our") reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Service following any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

2. Description of Service

Dev Signal is a free, automated weekly newsletter about AI tools, models, and APIs relevant to working developers. The Service provides:

  • AI-powered content curation: Automated monitoring of 100+ sources, AI-assisted summarization and ranking
  • Newsletter delivery: Three issues per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) via email
  • Web archive: Access to past issues at thedevsignal.com/archive
  • Topic filtering: Browse content by topic tags
  • Sponsor-supported model: Free content with occasionally clearly-labeled sponsor placements

A premium tier may be introduced in the future. Free access will remain available indefinitely.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use this Service. If you are under 13, you may not create an account or subscribe. By subscribing, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old and have the legal authority to enter into this agreement.

4. User Accounts and Subscriptions

4.1 Email Subscriptions

When you subscribe to Dev Signal, you agree to provide accurate and current email address information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your email account and for any activity that occurs under your account.

4.2 Unsubscribe

You may unsubscribe from Dev Signal at any time by:

  • • Clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any newsletter email
  • • Visiting thedevsignal.com/unsubscribe
  • • Contacting us at hello@thedevsignal.com

Your unsubscribe request will be processed within 10 business days.

4.3 Admin Accounts

Admin accounts are issued at our sole discretion to authorized personnel only. Admin users agree to comply with all security protocols and not share access credentials. Unauthorized access to admin accounts is prohibited.

5. Content and Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Content

All content in Dev Signal newsletters and on the website, including summaries, analysis, rankings, and formatting, is owned by Dev Signal or licensed from third parties. This includes:

  • • Curated selection and ranking of stories
  • • AI-generated summaries and analysis
  • • Implementation verdicts and editorial commentary
  • • Issue layouts and designs

5.2 User License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to view and access Dev Signal content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not:

  • • Reproduce, distribute, or republish our content without permission
  • • Use our content to train AI models or LLMs
  • • Scrape or systematically extract our content
  • • Create derivative works from our content
  • • Use our content for commercial purposes

5.3 Third-Party Content

Dev Signal aggregates and summarizes content from external sources (blogs, GitHub, research papers, etc.). We provide citations and links to original sources. Third-party content is subject to the intellectual property rights of the original creators.

5.4 User-Submitted Content

If you submit content to Dev Signal (e.g., via our "Submit a Tool" feature), you grant Dev Signal a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish and use that content on our website and in our newsletter. You represent that you own or have the rights to the content you submit.

6. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to use Dev Signal to:

  • • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
  • • Transmit spam, malware, or harmful code
  • • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
  • • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • • Harass, threaten, or defame any individual or organization
  • • Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service using bots
  • • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation

7. Free Service

Dev Signal is provided free of charge and supported by sponsor placements. By subscribing, you acknowledge that:

  • • The Service is provided on an "as-is" basis
  • • We may introduce sponsored content (always clearly labeled)
  • • Free access may change in the future, but existing free subscribers will receive notice
  • • No guarantee of uninterrupted service

8. Sponsor Content and Advertising

8.1 Sponsor Placements

Dev Signal includes occasional sponsor placements to fund operations. Sponsor content will always be:

  • • Clearly labeled as "Sponsor" or similar designation
  • • Relevant to the developer audience
  • • Not deceptive or misleading

8.2 Advertiser Relationships

We do not endorse or guarantee sponsor products or services. Sponsor placements do not represent our editorial approval. Your interactions with sponsors are your sole responsibility.

8.3 No Sales of Email Lists

We do not sell, rent, or share subscriber email addresses with sponsors. Sponsors cannot contact you outside of our newsletter without your explicit consent.

9. Email Deliverability and Service Availability

9.1 Delivery

While we aim to deliver newsletters reliably, we do not guarantee:

  • • Delivery to all subscribers
  • • Specific delivery times
  • • No blocked or spam-filtered emails

9.2 Service Availability

Dev Signal is provided without guarantee of uptime or availability. We may:

  • • Take the Service offline for maintenance
  • • Suspend or discontinue the Service
  • • Modify features without notice

If we discontinue Dev Signal, we will provide reasonable notice to active subscribers.

10. Accuracy of Content

10.1 Editorial Standards

Dev Signal applies editorial standards to ensure accuracy:

  • • Every factual claim must have a source citation
  • • AI-generated summaries are reviewed for hallucinations
  • • Implementation verdicts are based on research and community feedback

10.2 No Warranty

Dev Signal is not a substitute for professional advice. While we strive for accuracy, we do not warrant that:

  • • All information is accurate or complete
  • • Implementation verdicts apply to your specific use case
  • • Tool recommendations are suitable for your project

10.3 Corrections

If you identify a factual error, please contact us at hello@thedevsignal.com with details and a citation. We will investigate and publish corrections if warranted.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEV SIGNAL AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • • Indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
  • • Lost profits, revenue, or data
  • • Damage to your computer or software
  • • Loss of business opportunity or reputation
  • • Cost of substitute goods or services

Even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

YOUR SOLE REMEDY FOR DISSATISFACTION WITH DEV SIGNAL IS TO DISCONTINUE USE OF THE SERVICE.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

DEV SIGNAL IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING:

  • • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • • Merchantability
  • • Non-infringement
  • • Accuracy or completeness
  • • Uninterrupted or error-free service

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dev Signal and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • • Your violation of these Terms
  • • Your use of the Service
  • • Content you submit or authorize
  • • Your infringement of third-party rights

14. Third-Party Services and Links

Dev Signal may link to or integrate with third-party services (Google Analytics, Resend, Stripe, etc.). These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for:

  • • Third-party content or services
  • • Outages or service interruptions
  • • Data practices of third parties
  • • Your interactions with third parties

15. Modifications to the Service

Dev Signal may at any time modify or discontinue features, change the newsletter frequency or format, update the design or layout, or adjust sponsor placements. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes.

16. Termination

We may terminate your subscription or access to Dev Signal at any time, with or without cause. Reasons for termination may include:

  • • Violation of these Terms
  • • Abuse of the Service
  • • Non-compliance with content policies

Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases.

17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflicts of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of the United States.

You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts and waive any objections based on inconvenient forum.

18. Arbitration Clause

For any dispute that cannot be resolved through negotiation, you and Dev Signal agree to submit the matter to binding arbitration rather than court proceedings. Arbitration will be conducted by a neutral arbitrator in accordance with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) rules.

Each party bears its own costs and attorney fees, except that the arbitrator may award reasonable costs to the prevailing party.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, or if that is not possible, severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Dev Signal regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior and contemporaneous agreements, whether written or oral.

22. No Waiver

Dev Signal's failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Dev Signal.

23. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. Dev Signal may assign these Terms to any successor or purchaser without restriction.

24. Survival

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law) shall survive any termination of these Terms.
